As MD Expo Las Vegas wraps up, I had the opportunity to chat with Kelly Thakkar, a vibrant presence in the healthcare technology management (HTM) community and a key figure at J2S Medical. Kelly shared insights into her work, the ever changing landscape of HTM, her company's commitment to community and innovation, and a bit about her life as a mom of twins.

About Kelly Thakkar and J2S Medical

J2S Medical, a provider known for its comprehensive support in the HTM industry, specializing in infusion equipment. They offer a broad range of services including the provision of replacement parts, service, and rental equipment. Innovations and Community Impact

During our discussion, Kelly highlighted how J2S Medical not only focuses on the commercial aspects but also heavily invests in community welfare and education. The company is known for its annual volunteer services and has established strong ties with local community colleges to offer internships, providing practical experience to the next generation of HTM professionals.

One of the noted memories Kelly shared was the initiative led by Sarah Stem, a founder of J2S Medical, who passed away in 2024. Her legacy includes significant contributions to community service, notably a diaper bank initiative that aids children in impoverished areas. This effort showcases how J2S Medical extends its impact beyond the HTM industry into broader community support.

Sarah Stem(1979-2024), will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The Future of HTM According to Kelly

Looking ahead, Kelly is optimistic about the future of the HTM field. She notes a significant increase in educational opportunities about the industry, which is attracting more young people and women to the field—two demographics that have been historically underrepresented in HTM. These shifts suggest a more diverse and dynamic future for the industry, promising innovations and new perspectives on technology management in healthcare.
