From Overlooked To Essential: HTM Rise To #26

Let me share something that fired me up yesterday. I was scrolling through LinkedIn when I saw a post from Trimedx that stopped me in my tracks. They shared a TechNation feature highlighting a U.S. News report on the 100 Best Jobs of 2024. And guess what? Medical equipment repairers—our HTM professionals—ranked #26.

That’s right. From unranked just a decade ago to one of the best jobs in America. This isn’t just a ranking—it’s a testament to what we’ve been building, the lives we’ve impacted, and the dedication we bring every single day.

But before we celebrate this incredible milestone, let’s talk about the journey. Because where we are now is only possible because of where we’ve been.

From Unseen to Unstoppable

Go back to 2014. HTM wasn’t on anyone’s radar—no recognition, no spotlight. Just hardworking professionals doing what we’ve always done: ensuring hospitals ran smoothly and patients got the care they needed.

Here’s the truth: being overlooked doesn’t last when your work changes lives.

In 2019, we entered the rankings at #68. From there, the climb began: #64 in 2020, #60 in 2021, and by 2023, we broke into the top 50. And now? #26. Not because we sought attention, but because the world finally started seeing what we’ve known all along: HTM professionals are essential.

Why HTM Matters

Let me paint a picture for you. Imagine a hospital where ventilators don’t work. Imagine a surgery halted because equipment fails mid-procedure. It’s terrifying. Now imagine the people who make sure that never happens.

That’s HTM.

We’re the ones who work behind the scenes to ensure that every piece of medical equipment is ready when it’s needed. It’s not glamorous, and it doesn’t come with applause, but it saves lives. And that’s what makes it matter.

This Is More Than a Job

If you’re searching for a career with purpose, let me tell you something: HTM isn’t just a job—it’s a mission.

It’s about waking up every day knowing that your skills and your commitment make a difference. It’s about stepping up and saying, “I’ve got this,” because someone’s life could depend on it.

HTM is a career where technical expertise meets heart, where every repaired machine represents hope, and where your work leaves a legacy.

The Journey Ahead

HTM has climbed from unranked to #26, but we’re not done. As healthcare technology evolves, the demand for skilled, driven professionals will only grow. This is our moment to lead, to innovate, and to continue proving that HTM is indispensable.

To my HTM family: Be proud of how far we’ve come, but don’t stop now. Keep pushing, keep striving, and keep proving the value of what we do.

This is just the beginning. The best is yet to come.

So let’s celebrate, yes. But then let’s get back to work, because the climb isn’t over. And when we reach the top, it’ll be because we never stopped believing in the power of what we do.

Stay motivated. Stay focused. And as always, keep leading from the front.
