How do you integrate success into your daily life? How do you take inspiration and advice from others and make it part of your own journey right away? It starts with P.A.S.S.I.O.N. - putting a success story in our now.
If you're being mentored by someone and they give you great advice, start using it the second you hear it. Don't wait. The key is to take that valuable guidance and apply it immediately to your work and life. This way, you’re continuously evolving and growing, making every bit of advice count.
One of the ways I do this is by utilizing resources like Tech Nation magazine. Each article features a "Professional of the Month" and a "Biomed Department of the Month." I read these articles thoroughly, ready to take notes on anything that stands out. There’s always something new and beneficial that these professionals are doing, something that I can incorporate into my own skill set. That’s how you put a success story in your now—by actively seeking out and adopting best practices from others.
Think about it like a Build-A-Bear Workshop. If you have kids, you probably know about this place where you create your own stuffed animal from a variety of options. Now, why can't you do the same with your professional skills? Instead of digging through boxes of plush toys, you’re digging into the experiences of coworkers, vendors, magazine articles, professional associations, trade shows, and social media. Platforms like LinkedIn, AAMI, and even podcasts can provide a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.
The beauty of building your professional identity is that it’s not a one-time fix. You can constantly update and refine your skills as you move up in your career. You might start by building yourself as a lead technician, then evolve into a biomed manager, and eventually, a regional director. Passion is what drives this continuous improvement. By putting success stories into your now, you keep your journey dynamic and ever-progressing.
But make no mistake—this will not be easy. It takes a lot of effort. Effort is unique because it’s isolated; nobody can dictate it to you. It’s 100% in your mind. No one can make you put in the effort; it has to come from within. The greatest version of you knows what you are supposed to do. Not giving your best and taking shortcuts is not it. That’s not the best version of you.
I'm doing this podcast for the HTM culture and for the young people coming into the biomed field. It's about building a community where everyone is committed to becoming the best version of themselves. By integrating these success stories into your daily life, you create a ripple effect of excellence and dedication that will inspire those around you.
So, commit to yourself. Commit to putting success stories in your now. Take the advice, learn from the best, and apply it immediately. This is how you build not just a career, but a legacy of continuous improvement and unwavering dedication.

I've learned to embrace everyday, that I show up to make a difference, as a success! Each day is an opportunity to learn and grow. Not everyday will be groundbreaking in the way of achievement. But each day that passes, leads us to those days that are just-WOW! I have to keep going, so every day is a success in my now! Thank you for this awesome reminder Bryant. 😃
